Collision avoidance systems for machines and individuals wearing a PAD (personal alarm device), namely, a magnetic field generator for generating a magnetic field to be disposed on a machine, and a magnetic field detector to be disposed on another machine or PAD, wherein the system is configured to use the change in position over time of the machine having the magnetic field generator relative to the machine or PAD having the detector to determine a risk of them colliding.
