Ride Share Sleep Deprivation, Medical and Impairment Monitoring or Cross Reference System with the assistance of AI for all rideshare and transportation companies. Have you ever got into a rideshare vehicle and wondered how long has my driver been driving today or even if they are telling the truth? I get that question all the time from passengers especially late night which I normally work the night shift. In today's busy world many of us are forced to work several hours or even two jobs to make ends meet. Or even do a little ridesharing after an eight hour shift at a regular job. Even school bus drivers can rideshare during their downtime until it's time to go pick the kids up in the afternoon or work medical transportation service or auto parts delivery once they get off their normal job they can rideshare. Personally my drives normally start around 9pm or 11pm sometimes even at midnight depending on the events around town but that's after going to bed maybe at 4pm or even 6pm. All contractual drivers for rideshare companies are required to get a minimum of six hours sleep after driving 12 or 14 hours under any particular company such as Uber, Lyft, Door Dash, Instacart, Shipt, Amazon, Grab, Bellhop and now Kango Hop Skip and Ride which only pick up children. People are going to do what they have to when it comes to paying bills even if it means taking advantage of a loop hole in the system between the rideshare companies along with possibly drinking the energy drink. Basically I can drive 12 or 14 hours for Lyft and once they deactivate me I can just as easily switch over to Uber or a food delivery such as Door Dash or Instacart and continue to drive to make my rent, car note payment or any other bill I need to pay. Even in the case of having a medical issue such as a seizure while driving for Uber no one in the rideshare industry seems to care or even be knowledgeable enough or take the time to investigate and find out exactly when the driver should be allowed to safely drive again. With the majority of my driving happening at night I am frequently asked by passengers so when did you start driving today especially when there are big events happening all over town. Who wants to lose a family member or friend when it can be avoided with the assistance of AI and ODOT? Impairment comes in more forms than drugs, or drinking. Driving sleepy is just as worst. Vehicular homicide is no joke. Some drivers are going to take the risk if it means not getting hit with late fees or paying the mortgage or car note on time. I understand it should be done on the honor system but its slipping through the cracks because of the hole in the system. Currently there is no system in place to make sure that protocol is followed to monitor or regulate this driving activity that needs to be addressed per the concerns for public safety. These companies were created for public safety after a night out on the town with loved ones and friends. I even had some passengers tell me they wanted to call for another driver because they noticed their driver was swerving or even nodding a few times during the trip! Uber and Lyft should be monitored with all public transportation services such as Taxi drivers school bus, regular bus drivers etc. Especially if they are going to work for more than one transportation company. When someone drives for a rideshare company along with any other transportation company that's part of the American workforce, they must sign off with one system and not allowed to drive with any other company for a minimum of whatever the required hours are to rest usually 6 hours. Each company such as Lyft or Uber only monitor its own individual drivers through their system. There are no drug test done randomly to help assist with drivers that double dip for two companies. Before my time is up on this earth this is my way of giving something back to the world I love so much. This is not an attack against any particular ride share company this is to warn the public of safety issues which affects all passengers, drivers and everyone one else on the road to open there eyes and realize we have a serious problem. Even in the event of a medical issue such as a seizure if you were to have an accident companies may ask the question how did the accident happen and in the case of epilepsy or seizures we can be activated within five minutes without the rideshare representative talking it over with their attorney or even a medical team or neurologist to find out the best course of action to take per not driving for 3 months after a seizure or any other medical issue. ODOT needs to take a look at this to help determine the best course of action. Along with the permission and support of the National Department of Transportation and the Public National Safety Board because this is not just an Ohio issue some of these companies exist worldwide. Unfortunately I have personal experience as a driver to support my claims in both areas from August 11, 2019 and a few dates previous to where drivers can sign off or be deactivated with one company and sign in with another rideshare or delivery company and begin driving immediately which still is a safety concern due to the lack of communication between each company or a driver can even have a medical issue such as a seizure that should prevent you from driving a minimum of three months, but once again due to the lack of medical knowledge regarding something like a seizure or the rush to get drivers back on the road this a serious concerning matter that needs to addressed
