Devices temporarily connectable to a medical gas line outlet and permitting the flow of gas through the medical gas line for purging purposes, namely, a threaded plunger insertable through an opening of the gas line outlet to actuate a valve of the outlet, plates that can be temporarily coupled to the metallic back body of the outlet, and kits featuring, in combination, the metallic back bodies of medical gas line outlets and devices of the type described above that can be temporarily coupled to the outlet to permit the flow of gas through the medical gas line for purging purposes during installation of the medical gas line
