Taking the necessary safety precautions prior to anesthetizing a patient whom is susceptible to Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) are as follows, but not limited to. Performing an adequate anesthesia machine washout, in an effort to virginize the anesthesia machine and rid the device of any residual anesthetic inhalation agent or vapors. Changing the soda lime as well as the anesthesia circuit prior to use. This should be under the consideration of the particular manufactures recommendations. Removing all triggering agents from the OR room, such as vaporizers, and succinylcholine. Mechanically locking or inactivation the vaporizers left on an anesthesia machine. Applying standard monitors to the patient including skin temperature over a major muscle area. Utilizing TIVA, Spinal, Epidural, Regional, or MAC anesthesia. Vigilance and adequate monitoring during the intra-opertive and post-operative period
