Medical research at the university level in the fields of medicine, allied health, clinical laboratory sciences, and basic biomedical sciences; and clinical studies and field trials for others in the fields of medicine and allied health, namely, cancer, cardiovascular sciences, virology, neuroscience, psychopharmacology, and gene and cell therapy

Hospital services; healthcare services; medical services; providing health information and medical information; providing health and medical counseling; ambulatory care and treatment of health and medical issues in a clinical setting, namely, speech and hearing, rehabilitation, children's health, endoscopy, ears, nose and throat, family medicine, general medicine, medicine specialty, neurology, neurosurgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedic, psychiatry, surgery, urology, viral disease and women's health; and programs in which hospital clinicians and students in clinical settings, research programs, and the science programs collaborate to research and resolve problems in the provision of medical services and healthcare
