Program Description: The L.E.T.?S (Law Enforcement Teaching Strategies) Pass It Forward Project is a comprehensive community based program that utilizes a multi-systemic approach to providing wrap-around services to troubled gang affiliated youth and their families. Clients, age 13 ? 24 their families, and environmental support persons are engaged in scheduled activities which include individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, psycho-education groups, mentoring interactions and community outreach trips. The greatest emphasis is on promoting opportunities for positive interactions between troubled or gang affiliated youth and law enforcement mentors. Psycho-educational classes provided include anger management, substance abuse, consequences of crime and theft, gang prevention, life skills, job readiness, domestic violence, tolerance, and parenting. All activities are guided by evidence based curriculum on a foundation of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) designed to increase emotional intelligence in troubled and gang affiliated youth. This program identifies stressors related to undesirable behaviors, for example, criminality and the clients individual strengths as part of the solution toward recovery
