Last Mile VoIP refers to Voice-over-IP telecommunications service running over the wire connecting premises of homes or offices with the edge of a telecommunications network; Voice-over-IP is an industry shorthand for describing voice conversations that are encoded into Internet Protocol packets for digital transmission over digital networks; Last Mile VoIP describes services that by nature focus only on delivering VoIP technology to customers over the last mile, as opposed to business voice VoIP, when VoIP is delivered over office PBX and similar equipment; and wholesale VoIP, when VoIP is used as a technology to facilitate carrier to carrier voice switching
