The Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) offers two key services to the renal science professionals. It provides community outreach by offering kidney disease screenings and health education through partnership with hospitals, community groups and universities and schools, and thereby raising kidney disease awareness. The program also offers professional career development opportunities by offering volunteer training workshops, speaker series, mentor programs, leadership development and academic development programs. In response to the shortage of nephrology workforce, the two-prong approach of the Program model has gained wide recognition among renal science professionals and groups, such as American Association of Kidney Patients, NIH, American Society of Nephrology. The first use of the Mark was acknowledged by Harvard College in April of 2008
