Field equipment, frequently solar powered, electronic devices capable of transmitting sensor data by radio frequencies from one Field Data Radio to another The Field Data Radios use standard data transmission protocols such as RS232, RS422,USB etc for the transmission of their data from field data collection locations to other Field Data Radios Data and commands are bi-directional between Field Data Radios and can transmit to other carrying devices such as computers, (desktops, laptops, handheld, palmtop, PDA's) modems, Internet, Intranet, Ethernet, WAN's for local or worldwide transfers of data Soilmoisture's Field Data Radios can also be used to control and command other field equipment directly or through networks to protocol addressable equipment such as valves, dryers, purge tanks etc or via PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers) located nearby or within a 1 mile vicinity of the Field Data Radios
