Device Connectivity where the combination of computer related software and hardware is used to connect, integrate, and communicate with an established or to-be established community of electronic devices, device-enabled or modified electronic equipment that supports this connectivity concept An example of this would be to connect a number of electronically controlled pieces of equipment such as a bar glasswasher, a beverage dispensing gun, a beer tap with flow meter installed, a refrigerator, a series of scales for calibrating and weighing bottles of liquor, and a point-of-sale terminal all together as 'one' community of device enabled equipment that communicates with one another where and when appropriate This community of device enabled equipment is accessible via computer either directly, through a LAN, or via the Internet and will generate reports on the functioning of all equipment connected to the community This allows for a more efficient and streamlined operation of both the equipment and the establishment operating the equipment Anyone who has access to this community of devices and device-enabled equipment can monitor the performance of that equipment which will result in better customer service, maintenance, and other cost effective means of support for that equipment and the services thereof
