Automated animal cage and bedding handling systems comprising bedding dump stations for receiving soiled bedding from animal cages, an animal cage washer for washing animal cages after the soiled bedding has been removed, bedding dispensers for dispensing metered amounts of clean bedding into cages which have been washed, pneumatic conveyor systems for transporting soiled bedding from the bedding dump station to a dumpster or other waste disposal container and for conveying clean bedding to the bedding dispenser, and industrial robots for destacking soiled cages, emptying soiled bedding into the dump station, loading soiled cages emptied of bedding into the washer, moving washed cages from the washer to the bedding dispenser, and stacking clean refilled cages, sold as a unit
