The atomic database is a new type of computer database. It can be used to store any type of computer-related data. The key factors which differentiate the atomic database from other types of computer databases are (1) it stores data at the lowest possible or "atomic" level, and (2) it uses a simple but powerful new notational language that enables data atoms to be assembled and integrated with other data atoms to configure different data structures or "molecules". These differentiating features permit database users to more easily integrate and access data from multiple sources -- and to configure self-describing data packets
