Surgical navigation system for conducting robotic, minimally invasive, open, and percutaneous surgical procedures that consists of two major components: 1) hardware: a display unit, a 3D screen, 3D stereo goggles, a 6-degree-of-freedom tracking device, a computer, one or more monitors, a set of foot pedals, a series of retro-reflective markers attached to surgical instruments and patient anatomy, and portable carts for supporting equipment, and 2) software: computer programs that perform automatic patient 3D registration, anatomical segmentation, 3D anatomical reconstruction, identification of anatomical landmarks, and ideal implant trajectory for pre-surgical planning, intraoperative guidance, and post-surgical analytics
