services in connection with finding a cure for mitochondrial diseases by promoting research on the basic science of mitochondria, mitochondrial pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis and treatment throughout the world; fostering public education and training and providing a platform for communication and dissemination of knowledge among scientists, physicians and others interested in mitochondrial diseases; conducting regular national and international scientific meetings on mitochondrial research; and publication of an official journal named, "Mitochondrion" and a newsletter named, "MitoMatters"
